Hair Removal using Nad's Eco Salon Wax

Nad's Eco Salon Wax is ideal for long lasting hair removal and good for the environment. Follow these tips for the best results.

    Ingredients

Glyceryl rosinate, Hydrogenated microcrystalline wax, Paraffin, Peg-40 Hydrogenated castor oil, Hydrogenated styrene/ Butadiene copolymer, Glycerin, Aqua (Water), Cannabis sativa seed oil, Chamomilla recutita (Matricaria) flower extract, Potassium sorbate.

    How to Use

    Before you start waxing

    1. Ensure the area is clean, dry and free of oils and moisturisers
    2. Cover the floor area where you will be conducting the waxing with old newspapers or an old towel in case of spillage
    3. Hair needs to be a minimum of 3mm. If much longer, trim to approximately 5mm.
    4. Make sure you have this leaflet close at hand

    Heating the wax

    1. Place the jar off centre in the microwave oven an a microwavable plate.
    2. Refer to the heating guide in the attached leaflet.
    3. Carefully watch the product during heating in order to stop the microwave immediately in the event something unusual occurs (sparks, smoke, bubbling wax, overflowing wax etc.).
    4. Leave the jar to stand in the switched off microwave for l minute before taking it out to ensure a better diffusion of heat through the wax.
    5. Before removing jar, GENTLY touch the jar to check that it is not too hot to handle.
    6. Carefully remove the jar from the microwave, keeping it upright at all times to prevent spillage. Place the jar onto an old newspaper or a paper towel.

    Checking the temperature

    1. Gently stir the product with the spatula to ensure a uniform consistency, as parts of the wax may be more liquid than others. The product is ready when the wax has the consistency of thick honey, without any solid areas.
    2. If the wax has not sufficiently softened and is difficult to stir or spread, put it back in the microwave for l0 seconds at a time (never more) until the ideal consistency is achieved.
    3. When the wax has the right consistency, carefully check the temperature by placing a small amount on the inside of your wrist before proceeding with the full treatment.
    4. When the temperature is at a comfortable level, only then begin with the hair removal process. If the wax is too hot, let it cool down to a comfortable temperature.

    Applying the wax

    1. Insert the spatula in the jar and scoop out the wax.
    2. With the spatula, apply, even layer of wax approximately 1-2 mm. thick.
    3. Leave a small amount of wax at curling up at the end of the patch to make it easier to remove.
    4.  Let the wax cool on your skin for approximately 20 sec, until it is soft and pliable but not longer sticky to touch. If wax is left on skin too long (more than 1 minute), it may become hard and difficult to remove.

    Removing the wax

    1. Hold the skin taut with one hand. Lift end of wax with fingers of free hand. Grip wax and with a quick motion, remove wax close and parallel to the skin in the opposite direction of hair growth.
    2. Immediately after removal, apply firm pressure to the area with fingertips to relieve sensitivity.
    3. Use a tissue soaked in oil (body massage oil, olive or coconut oil) to remove any wax residue. Do not attempt to use water.

Yes, all Nad's Hair Removal products are cruelty-free.

One of the benefits of waxing over shaving is that hair is removed by the root, meaning it will take longer for hair to grow back. The length of time varies by individual, but typically hair will re-grow between 4-6 weeks after waxing.

You should only need to wax every 3 to 6 weeks. Wait at least 24 hours before waxing again. Do not wax the same area twice in a single waxing session.

When using a Sugar Wax, Gel Wax or Hard Wax, the hair needs to be at least 2-5mm in length.

When using a Wax Strip, the hair needs to be at least 2-5mm in length.

A pimply rash is quote common and is the skin's reaction to having hair pulled from the root.

If the skin has been removed then it is not being held taut and also the strip is being applied over the same spot more than once. Also, if the skin is excessively dry; this could make the skin susceptible to tearing if waxed.

    Bruising may be a result of either applying too thick a layer of gel or not holding your skin taut enough. Whilst this is rare, bruising may occur in some situations as a result of;

    • applying the gel too thickly. It is important to apply a thin layer of gel to prevent the product from tugging the skin when the strip is removed
    • failing to hold the skin taught when removing the strip. It is important to keep the skin taut to minimise movement of the skin and hence prevent bruising
    • diabetes. Diabetics are prone to bruising due to poor blood circulation
    • Pre existing skin or circulatory issues.

NOTE: If you have a skin condition, always check the recautions in the instruction leaflet to ensure yours is a suitable skin type.

There are a number of reasons why bruising, swelling and/or irritation may occur so it's important to ALWAYS read the precautions and perform a patch test before treatment to ensure you're skin is suitable.

    • Here are some of the things to look out for. Refer to the precautions for more information.
    • Are you a diabetic/take oral retinoids(antibiotics)/is your skin very inelastic or dry? If so, you should not be using this product. For a detailed explanation of suitable skins types, you should refer to our instruction leaflet.
    • Did you remember to keep the skin taut as you pulled the strip off? This is essential to prevent bruising/swelling/irritation.
    • Did you pull the strip up rather than close to the skin? This can cause bruising/swelling/irritation.
    • Did you go over the same area more than twice on your face? Do not re-wax the area if your skin is irritated.
    • Did you use the product just before or during your period? Your skin is really sensitive during this time and I wouldn’t recommend waxing until after your period. You will find that it will be a far less painful experience then.
    • Was the hair very long? We advise to trim the hair to 5mm, as longer hair will be more painful to remove and you might experience bruising/swelling/irritation.

NOTE: It's quite normal to experience a little redness or spots after waxing, especially if you're new to it. Always perform a patch test in the area to be treated and wait at least 24 hours to ensure any redness subsides before proceeding with waxing.

Pulling hair from the root can cause some discomfort with some individuals. We recommend to avoid waxing the sensitive areas during or on the days leading up to menstruation.

We recommend ensuring that the tattoo has completely healed first and to complete a small test patch on the area before full treatment.

Yes, this Nad's Hair Removal product is Vegan.

Hair may not come out if:

    • You use the Nad’s Soothing & Finishing oil wipes before using the wax.
    • The area was not clean, dry and oil-free.
    • Your skin was not held taut.
    • You did not pull off in the opposite direction of hair growth.
    • If you slowly pulled or dragged the wax off.
    • If your hair was shorter than 3mm. The wax will not grip onto shorter hair.

You may have applied the wax too thinly. The hair needs to be completely covered. Also, the wax may have been left on the skin too long. The wax should be pliable when removed (not brittle).

As this product is oil soluble, we recommend using the Calming Oil Wipes. If using the Nad's Eco Wax, we recommend using coconut or olive oil applied to a tissue to gently remove any residue. Ensure that the wax is not being left on the skin for too long (over a minute) or applying the wax too thinly.

Put the jar back in the microwave for 10-second increments until it has the consistency of thick honey. You might find that there is a ‘hot spot’ in the jar – a spot where the wax is completely fluid with hard wax around it. Leave the wax for 1 minute and then gently stir it mixing the more fluid parts with the hard parts. Please remember to test a little bit on the inside of your wrist to check the temperature before proceeding with the treatment.

The spatulas and precision shaping stick can be used for precision application of the hard wax and for finishing touches

Baby oil will help remove any accidental wax application, or you may need to trim away hair caught up in ‘misplaced’ wax. If it’s simply post-wax residue or a very small amount of wax, the Nad’s Post Wax Calming Oil Wipes included will be sufficient.

As depilatory creams have to be very alkaline to dissolve the hair, they can sometimes cause irritation to sensitive skins which is why we always recommend a patch test to ensure your skin is suitable for treatment with a depilatory cream.

Remember it's important to patch test in the area you wish to treat as some areas are more sensitive than others. Check the precautions on pack to ensure the area you wish to treat is suitable for treatment with a depilatory cream.

To perform a patch test, follow the directions on pack and always read the precautions before you commence.

Some people with diabetes have poor blood circulation and so may be more prone to bruising and skin irritations.

Hair may not come out if:

    • it is not at least 3-5mm long
    • the area is not clean and free from makeup and moisturisers
    • the area is not dried after using the cleansing wipes
    • too thick a layer of gel is applied – it needs to be thin
    • you do not pull off the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth
    • you pull off the cotton strip upwards rather than close and parallel to the skin
    • the skin was not held taut.

I've purchased your eco pot of wax today and the first feeling/look of it was very positive. I love the plant based tub, amazing quality and finally no more plastic that ends up in our oceans and landfill :/ The product by itself is sensational, I love it! Good on you Sue, keep up the good work!

I bought your product last week and I totally love your product. I think I have never felt my skin so soft after waxing and without damage. It was like using honey instead. Even more, the idea that is free cruelty to animals is fantastic. I don't know if someone will read my email but I was so happy with the product that I decided anyway to send you my feedback.
